Daytona Beach

Just got back from a short trip to Daytona beach. Once again reward points hotel on the beach was SWEET. Weather was decent, but seas were high, which kept us from fishing. We finally went on the last day, when we sailed on the USS Puketown. 1 1/2 hrs of 6' to 8' wave bashing just to get to the fishing grounds, needless to say 1/2 the ship was sick. I didn't throw up, but fought it for 6hrs. Fishing was fair for fishing on a bobber, mainly sea bass, couple red snapper and a couple groupers. Oh well if I wanted a certain amount of fish I should have went to Kroger's.

Deer Season

Deer season is finally here again. I finally bagged a deer,it has been a couple year drought for me, but I am very happy with deer #56 of my hunting career. I got him a state deer reduction hunt at Potato Creek SP near South Bend. The picture of the woods is where the deer fell and I was in the top left corner way up in the woods. It was 120 steps thru the timber, one of my best 10 shots ever made. 1 1/2 mile track back to the truck did me in, so I called it a day. I could have shot 2 more does. If I didn't have my deer cart I'd probably still be in the woods, with a fire and just eatin' the deer on the spot. I LOVE HUNTING, it thrilling, challenging, primevil, and just plain fun, DO IT. Note: apartment complexes frown upon butching your deer in the back of a pickup in their parking lot. When the cop showed up and said I couldn't be doing that in the parking lot. I told him it was the only place to do it, plus according the DNR it is a crime not to processes the deer( willful wanting waste) the cop shook his head, told me to hurry up and left. Finally a cop with a sense of humor.

OSU Football

I know, I know what's an Indiana boy doing by going to an OSU football game you ask? Well my girlfriend Taunya thought it would be cool. Plus the Candy Man at the North Market gave her free tickets. I have to say we really had fun. Went to pregame concert featuring the Naked Karate Girls, corny get up, but great music and very fun to watch. Had great seats and the mood in the stadium was electric and they handed Purdue there ass at 49 zip. I would go again in a heartbeat

New decoration

Finally got some of my trophies from Africa, but didn't get my rugs. They are supposed to be on the way. The stuff I got was well done and really sets the apartment off. Also got a neon sign for an early birthday present as I'll be the the big Five-O next month. Our squirrel still visits regularly, although it's hard to imagine just how much a little squirrel can eat. Also made a damascas eagle knife. I've made a few knives lately, but the guys are buying them up faster than I can make them, and got orders for 3 more. I guess it's good to be popular.

Six Flags

Finally an update, been stuck in TX all summer and have 1 thing to say, HOT, HELL HOT we had 36 days above 100 with a 109 high, so needless to say too hot for my northern fat ass. But Taunya came down for the weekend and we went to Six Flags, it had cooled off to a balmy 97, so we went anyway. It's been a few years since I rode rides and the way my back feels, it'll probably be a few more years before I go again. But a good time was had. The "Oil Derrick" tower had a spectacular view. We could see the hotel, Dallas, Ft Worth, both stadiums Cowboys and Rangers. They had a sky swing that looked fun, but we passed. Sunday we had a cook out with the boys again and we made stuffed pepper to go with the TX brisket. Hoping to get some work close to home for fall, we'll see.

Fort Worth Stockyards

Tawny flew down for Easter this weekend. Saturday the Utilx guys had a cookout. Beer, brisket, and ball breaking were flowing. Went the stockyards on Monday. Cattle drive in the street was cool, shop had some neat stuff, but mostly tourist crap. Booger Red's Saloon was the best. Saddle bar stools, good food, ceiling fans were belt driven, what a western bar should be So if you like western wear and cowboys stuff, this place is for you.

Arlington, Tx

Its been awhile since an update, but not much going on. Work is really slow and have been working only 40hrs a week compared to my normal 50 to 60. But were in Arlington to get some training on our new splices and live front termination. Hotel is right across from Six Flags and 10 blocks from the new Cowboys stadium. Going back to nuclear plant in Valley Forge for a week and then back to Texas. My friend Don Perkins and I have been getting some wild boar hunting in on the weekends. Hunting on national grasslands, so hunting pressure is high, but boars are present. Went to a new area Sunday and looked real promising with 2 road kill pigs on either side of our area. Taunya is coming down in April, going to the Ft Worth stockyards and Six Flags, been awhile since I been on a coaster, but I'm ready. Also help round up some cattle. Been having trouble with my blog. Could not get pictures to download and in the process deleted 3 of my newer post. Suck!
