Six Flags

Finally an update, been stuck in TX all summer and have 1 thing to say, HOT, HELL HOT we had 36 days above 100 with a 109 high, so needless to say too hot for my northern fat ass. But Taunya came down for the weekend and we went to Six Flags, it had cooled off to a balmy 97, so we went anyway. It's been a few years since I rode rides and the way my back feels, it'll probably be a few more years before I go again. But a good time was had. The "Oil Derrick" tower had a spectacular view. We could see the hotel, Dallas, Ft Worth, both stadiums Cowboys and Rangers. They had a sky swing that looked fun, but we passed. Sunday we had a cook out with the boys again and we made stuffed pepper to go with the TX brisket. Hoping to get some work close to home for fall, we'll see.

Fort Worth Stockyards

Tawny flew down for Easter this weekend. Saturday the Utilx guys had a cookout. Beer, brisket, and ball breaking were flowing. Went the stockyards on Monday. Cattle drive in the street was cool, shop had some neat stuff, but mostly tourist crap. Booger Red's Saloon was the best. Saddle bar stools, good food, ceiling fans were belt driven, what a western bar should be So if you like western wear and cowboys stuff, this place is for you.

Arlington, Tx

Its been awhile since an update, but not much going on. Work is really slow and have been working only 40hrs a week compared to my normal 50 to 60. But were in Arlington to get some training on our new splices and live front termination. Hotel is right across from Six Flags and 10 blocks from the new Cowboys stadium. Going back to nuclear plant in Valley Forge for a week and then back to Texas. My friend Don Perkins and I have been getting some wild boar hunting in on the weekends. Hunting on national grasslands, so hunting pressure is high, but boars are present. Went to a new area Sunday and looked real promising with 2 road kill pigs on either side of our area. Taunya is coming down in April, going to the Ft Worth stockyards and Six Flags, been awhile since I been on a coaster, but I'm ready. Also help round up some cattle. Been having trouble with my blog. Could not get pictures to download and in the process deleted 3 of my newer post. Suck!

Boston

Spent the day visiting Boston, Sam Adams Brewery, Bunker Hill Monument 300 steps of leg jello hell, but worth the view, USS Constitution, The Old North Church, and the set and bar from "Cheers" We just found out we'll be moving to Harrisburg PA next week. So I didn't have the time really see Boston, but a quick tour is better than no tour.

Cape Cod

Heres some pictures of New Bedford,MA and Cape Cod National Seashore. The scenery is quite pleasant, drivers suck, and people are somewhat standoffish. While eating at a little diner my waitress asked me if I wanted another Coke, I said "Yes please". When she brought me my drink I said" Thank you very much" she stated "You must be from the midwest, because no one is that polite around here. I said "What a shame, my mother taught me to be polite to everyone" She said " Anyway it is quite refreshing to have someone with some manners" I said "Thank the Kennedys, they have been looking down on their nose rest on the US for years" She quietly nodded and walked away. She soon return with a piece of pie."Compelments of the house, we don't like the Kennedys either. Now thats my kinda place, servillity served with a piece of humble pie.

Provincetown,Mass

Today I went out to Cape Cod to visit the national seashore and one of the oldest cities in the US. As a strolled the town I stopped at the first pub, est 1871, to have a drink. I struck up a conversation with very friendly bar keep when I noticed a picture of a photo on the wall. "Who's the naked guy" I asked. "Tenneesse Williams, he wrote A Street Car Named Desire in an upstairs room here. Then I noticed a few other pictures and my bar keeps over friendlyness when turtle brain realized,GAY BAR. Now a few years ago when I was working in Elko, NV the first bar I walked into had 2 lesbians and a gay indian who tried to get me drunk, now 3000 miles away the first bar I walk into is a gay bar. I finished my drink and backed out the bar to continue walk of the town when it came to me there more gays in this town that Fresco. It was quaint and historic, althought when the Pilgrams came here for religous tolerence I bet the had no idea what was going to happen 300 odd years later. By the way stopped for another drink, gay bar, oh well, free country. I will update with seashore pictures, you know lighthouses and such.
